The Perfection of Reality-Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

Nothing we see or hear is perfect. But right there in the imperfection is perfect reality.

-Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

Let your thoughts come and go- Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

Leave your front door open and your back door open. Let your thoughts come and go. Just don’t serve them tea.

-Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

Problems and our lives-Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

When problems arose, Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki was not flustered. He said that when we fall down on the ground we use that same ground to help us to get back up. He told his students to be patient with themselves and with each other and that they had within them what it took to meet whatever came. He said that the miracle of life is that we have just enough problems, that we are up to dealing with whatever arises. We just had to learn to not compound a problem with unnecessary intellectual and emotional activity. It is like the old Chinese saying, you could ride a horse but you can’t ride a horse on a horse.
