Do you understand? – Luohan Guichen

  

罗汉桂琛禅师见僧来举拂子曰。还会么。僧曰。谢和尚慈悲示学人。师曰。见我竖拂子便道示学人。汝每日见山见水可不示汝。师又见僧来举拂子。其僧赞叹礼拜。师曰。见我竖拂子便礼拜赞叹。那里扫地竖起扫帚。为什么不赞叹。

Zen Master Luohan Guichen saw a monk coming and raised his fly whisk, “Do you understand?” The monk replied, “Thank you for your compassionate teaching.” The master asked, “Seeing me raise the whisk and you say I’m teaching you. Everyday you see the mountains and rivers, aren’t they teaching you?” Next the master saw another monk coming and raised his fly whisk. The monk praised his action and bowed. The master said, “There you see someone sweeping and raising the broom, why didn’t you praise that?” 

Liberation-Bodhidharma

  

To see form but not be clouded by form or to hear sound but not be clouded by sound is liberation.

So you must keep very strongly a closed mouth and you must learn from the blue sky, the white clouds, deep quiet mountains and the very noisy cities. They are like this, that is your true great teacher.

Nowhere else but here-Layman Pang Yun

  

有禅僧送庞蕴居士离寺，也是正值漫天的飞雪。庞居士感叹地说：“好雪片片，不落别处。”

A monk was sending Layman Pang Yun out of the temple. At that time it was snowing. Layman Pang, looking at the falling snow said, “Wonderful snowflakes, they don’t fall anywhere else but here.”

Lost on dark paths of ignorance 

we wander through the six worlds, 

from dark path to dark path we wander, 

when shall we be freed from birth and death?

Difficulty in practice-Zen Master Dae Bong

  

Why is it difficult to practice? We face a lot of pressure in this world to go fast, and we’ve become very complicated. We have to make our minds simple, present, and attentive. If we don’t make our minds simple, it’s very difficult to pay attention to what we’re doing. If you can wash the dishes, drive to work, do your job, and take care of your family with attentiveness, then everything is your gate. Everything is your way in, and every action can be saving ourselves and saving others.

为什么这么难修行呢？我们在生活中面对许多压力，要我们把事请做得更快，而我们也变得很复杂。我们需要让我们的心变得简单，活在当下，持有正念。如果我们不让我们的心简单化，要时时留意我们正在做什么是不容易的。如果你可以以正念洗盘子，驾车去上班，做工，照顾你的家人，处处都是大道之门。所有一切都是入口，而所有的行为都可以是救度自己和他人。

Wheel of suffering-Zen Master Seung Sahn

  

If you cannot control your karma, then it will control you, not only in this life but for numberless lifetimes in the future, making good and bad, happiness and sadness, and leading you around and around. This is called the wheel of suffering.
